蜜桃视频 Community College will host its annual Bull Production Sale and Seminar on Friday, March 20, at the Beef Unit on the college farm, located at 2002 County Road 23, east of 蜜桃视频.
The day will begin with a Bull Sale Seminar at 10:00 a.m. featuring Brian Bertelsen,
vice president of field operations with U.S. Premium Beef. Bertelsen will present
鈥淐apturing Carcass Premiums,鈥 focusing on strategies producers can use to maximize
carcass value through genetics, management, nutrition, and carcass data in value-based
marketing systems.
U.S. Premium Beef is a producer-owned beef processing company and part-owner of National Beef Packing Company, the nation鈥檚 fourth-largest beef processor. In his role, Bertelsen provides technical services and education to producers on cattle delivered under U.S. Premium Beef鈥檚 value-based grids.
He holds degrees in animal science and ruminant nutrition from the University of Illinois and has previously worked as a cattle nutritionist in the feed industry and as a beef specialist with Cooperative Extension.
Prospective buyers are welcome to view cattle at their convenience leading up to the sale. The event schedule includes:
- 10:00 a.m. 鈥 Bull Sale Seminar
- Noon 鈥 Complimentary lunch
- 1:00 p.m. 鈥 Bull Sale
The sale will feature yearlings and 18-month-old bulls from 17 consignors, along with home-raised heifers. The eight breeds represented are Angus, Balancer/Gelbvieh, Charolais, Red Angus, Salers, SimAngus, and Simmental Online bidders must be registered with before the event begins.
